President's Report

Hard to believe how quickly the year has passed.  The chapter has been very engaged over the past several months and we need to recognize the great work done by our members. Our National Payroll Week celebration was a great success, thanks to the hard work of Liz Bennett and her committee.  Games, prizes, tasty food and shopping therapy were part of the carnival themed event.  The Woodlands Chapter booth won the top prize at the Texas Payroll Conference.  After years of trying, Marcy Trucks and her committee designed and executed an award winning booth that captured the food theme of this year's conference.  Well Done!

On the community service front, chapter members outdid last year's grocery and monetary donations total at the Kroger/Operation Military Embrace event in Conroe in August.  The back of Katherine's pickup was full of boxes.  TWCAPA Payroll Pacesetters followed up by raising nearly $4000 for this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's.  Susan Payton earned Grand Champion status and Claudia Watson earned Champion status.

The Board of Directors for 2017 will be elected on November 8th.  Other than our President Elect (Marilyn LaMance), there have been no names placed in nomination on the website survey.  The chapter needs officers to plan activities and direct the chapter each year.  Please consider nominating yourself to serve on the Board.

Another successful CPP/FPC study group completed their work in August.  We already have our first new CPP from this class.  Congratulations to Evelyn Flores from Crane Worldwide Logistics!

Community Service

As you read in the President's report, our members continue to give of their time, talent and resources.  Besides the monthly donations, our members have fund raised, walked and talked on behalf of great organizations in our community.  Our favorite charities, Operation Military Embrace, the Alzheimer's Association and Oak Ridge Elementary School have all been the beneficiaries of our chapter's generosity.  We will be accepting donations for a faith based group at our November meeting and then, in December, at our annual Awards night, we will be collecting toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign.  While you are finishing up your personal Christmas shopping, consider picking up a new toy or maybe a couple for kids who have very little.
